Data Collection is essential in schools to monitor student assessment and evaluate your curriculum. Schools who are undergoing Accreditation by any number of agencies will find this is something required. ISS have been using the ISA ACER tests from Australia for the last few years as they try to maintian an international perspective. Not entirely happy with their data presentation - a lot of money for statistics that are not user friendly. Also the timing of the results means that realistically we never analyse them sufficiently. We are currently sourcing new testing platforms and are looking at MAP (from USA North West) and CEM (from Durham UK). As an IB school we find insufficient schools contributing to many testing platforms to make the results meaningful to us - as International Schools we cannot always compare ourselves directly with the State norms of specific countries. We also want to be able to assess the 'value added' (buzz phrase of the century) component and many forms of data collection do not adequately do this. Are any schools currently using either of these platforms?
